From the Desk of Dana Cole-Levesque, Superintendent

Welcome to the Rutland South Supervisory Union. The union, comprising the towns of Clarendon, Shrewsbury and Wallingford, is made up of approximately 1,000 students in grades PK through 12 and 250 staff members within three elementary schools, middle school, high school and supervisory union office. Mill River Union High School enrolls approximately 200 tuition students from many surrounding towns.

The RSSU schools put academic achievement and student growth at the top of the priority list. There is a belief that every student will learn, and we are determined to ensure that every student has the resources and the opportunity to learn. Our goal is to develop well rounded students and the district offers a broad variety of artistic, athletic and extracurricular activities. It is critical that we engage all members of the community in the support of our children – parents, teachers, support staff, and our communities.

Our work together requires teamwork, collaboration and dedication. We believe in the value of collaboration and communication. Commitment and implementation of continuous learning lead to improved student performance. There is power in personal connections and relations between staff, students, parents and the community.

School safety and pleasant working conditions also impact school success and academic achievement. We place a high priority on creating an atmosphere where our students and staff feel safe. A team spirit is cultivated at each school, where employees respect and enjoy one another and do everything they can to make their school’s climate a positive and supportive one.

I encourage you to become involved with our schools, to join the schools’ parent clubs and to attend the school’s activities and programs.

The public is welcome at School Board meetings that typically follow the following schedule:
Shrewsbury – 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month;
Clarendon – 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month;
Mill River – 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month;
Wallingford – the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month;
Rutland South – 3rd Monday of the month in Sept., Nov., Dec., Jan., March and May.
